Longfellowrentals.com - Unit 3B

Welcome to LongfellowRentals.com - FAQ
The Longfellow Building is a historic property that was converted to a condominium building in 1984. Unit #3B was upgraded again in 2004.

Renting in the Longfellow
There are sixteen privately owned condominium units in the Longfellow Building with fourteen of them renting out for all or part of the season. Unit #3B is rented out directly by the owners.

Convenient Location
The Longfellow is in the heart of Chautauqua Institution. It is the ideal location for visitors who want quick access to the Amphitheater, the Bookstore, the Library and the Refectory. It is close enough to the Amphitheater to hear the orchestra warming up from our porch but far enough away not to disturb you during rehearsals.

Quiet
Our unit is a particularly quiet location for being so centrally located. We're on the third floor so there will be no one above you walking around. We are not immediately adjacent to any other unit except along the rear wall of the living room where a firewall separates us from unit 3C. We've never been bothered by noise from any other unit.

Tastefully Appointed
We've worked hard to make sure that our unit is a comfortable place for us to stay and are confident that you will feel the same way. When you're not busy at a lecture, at a class or on the water take a moment to relax on our leather recliner couch, watch your favorite television program on cable TV, listen to your CD's on our music system, borrow a book from our library to read on the porch or take a nap!

In-House Library

Forget to bring enough to read? We have over two hundred titles to choose from in our unit. Please remember to return whatever books you borrow when you're done.

Porches
There are two porches for your use, one on the first foor and another on the second floor. Each porch has swinging benches and rocking chairs. Quiet rules are in effect after 10:00 in the evening.

Lobby
There is a first floor lobby area that is perfect for getting together with larger groups of friends and family.

What do you need to bring?
We provide linens, pillows, blankets, towels, paper products and even umbrellas. You need to bring clothes, toiletries, food and a good attitude.

Air Conditioning
The unit is entirely air conditioned. In the living area there is a whisper-quiet split style A/C unit, in the bedroom a separate window unit. There are also ceiling fans and window fans for those who prefer fresh air.

Fully Equipped Kitchen
This unit has a fully equipped kitchen including a microwave, coffee pot, toaster,a garbage disposal and more than enough dishes, silver and cooking utensils. We try to keep some basics on hand - salt, pepper, spices, coffee filters, aluminum foil, plastic wrap and olive oil. You'll need to bring whatever food you wish to have on hand.

Sleeps Three
The bedroom has a queen sized bed, the living room has a sofa bed that opens up into a twin sized bed. We discourage rentals to more than three people.

Parking

Chautauqa is for walking and biking. Like the vast majority of units on the grounds, during the summer season parking is available only in the off-site parking lots. You are permitted to drive on to the grounds for very short periods of time to load and unload. Bike racks are located at the front of the building; bikes are not allowed in rental units, in the lobby or in the hallways. Unlocked bicycles are often "borrowed" so we suggest bike locks.

When It Rains

For those days when the weather is less than ideal we provide umbrellas and an ideal location for a quick run to the Amp, the Bookstore or the Library. It would be hard to find a quieter, more central location for your Chautauqua visit.

Laundry
The building has a coin-operated laundry. Our unit has an iron and ironing board.

WiFi/Internet
The Longfellow Building maintains an open-access WiFi system.

No Smoking
Our unit and the entire building including the porches and lobby are designated as non-smoking areas.

No Pets
Renters are not allowed to bring pets of any kind in to the building. This rule is part of the building's charter and is not negotiable. Certified service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome.

Rental Weeks
As is typical in Chautauqua, this unit is rented by the week from Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning.

Reservations/Security Deposits/Taxes
Reservations may be secured with an advance deposit. In addition to a weekly rental fee there is a one-time cleaning fee and a security deposit. Please read your lease agreement for full details. Renters are also responsible for the Chautauqua County Room tax currently set at 5%.
